Just want to get some clarification on striking stuff on the green:
If you chip from off the green, and hit opponents club / towel / etc What about your own gear? Then on the green: If you putt, and hit the flagstick, that ha been placed "well" out of the way by your opponent What about if you hit your opponents ball as you putt (think of a situation where he didn't mark because "there is no way I could possibly hit that ball" Thx |

Even more sure about this one. A glowing exception I believe is your cart which I don't think is considered part of your equipment. > > Then on the green: > If you putt, and hit the flagstick, that ha been placed "well" out of > the way by your opponent Apparently not well enough. He should have asked you to mark. His penalty. You replace, I think he may have to replay the shot. Now I'll go look up the rules and see if I was right.... |

Your gear = 1 stroke penalty. Opponents gear = no penalty (although I think there's a "do-over" option in match play) (19-2 and 19-3) > Then on the green: > If you putt, and hit the flagstick, that ha been placed "well" out of > the way by your opponent I believe this is 2 strokes (17-3). > What about if you hit your opponents ball as you putt (think of a > situation where he didn't mark because "there is no way I could > possibly hit that ball" 2 stroke penalty on you (stroke play only) (19-5a). His ball is replaced, yours is played as is. If there's even the *slightest* chance you may it another ball, you should ask it to be marked. > Thx > You're welcome, Rob |

Same schtick. You're not allowed to hit the flag stick, when putting from the green, regardless of where it is. Alternately, if your opponent is about to accidently hit a flag stick sitting on the green, and you pick it up, you're penalized. > >> What about if you hit your opponents ball as you putt (think of a > >> situation where he didn't mark because "there is no way I could > >> possibly hit that ball" > > > This is the one I know I'd have to look up, but..... > > > He should have asked you to mark. But hey, I was told once that you learn more from failure than success. |
