Default A suggestion.

Personally, I don't mind arguing about any topic, but quite clearly
there are those who want a newsgroup about golf to only contain
golf-related posts.

So I suggest that those of us who start threads that aren't on the topic
of golf simply mark them as such by starting them with "OT:". If you
want to get more specific, then you could say "OT: <subject>".

In this way, people who don't want to read about anything but golf will
know what threads to avoid.

You could try hitting yourself in the head with a nine iron.

Alan - not a bad idea. But I think that it might be easier for RSG as a
whole if we just marked the posts with actual GOLF content with a "GOLF" as
you wouldn't have to do that very often :-)

You're no doubt referring to all the political posts.

Personally, I cannot recall a time when I've ever STARTED a political thread
(I may have a few times, but it's rare). I certainly won't hesitate to
chime in on one that somebody else started. But I prefer to START golf
discussion here. But I'll talk about most anything here.

I recall a time long ago when this actually was a golf newsgroup, and
not a bad one at that. There were some real nut cases (remember 5
iron?) but it was still almost entirely golf related.

If I want to discuss politics, there are thousand of other places to do
so. I don't think that's the case with golf. If anyone knows of
another discussion group, bulletin board, etc. where golf remains the
main topic of conversation, please share it with me.

As far as politics, I like the motto:

"Don't vote. It only encourages the bastards."
