What's the opinion on this NG about the wearing of gaiters on the golf
course? The weather here in Cornwall has been so wet, I come off the course with trouser bottoms saturated. I could wear plus two's of course, but as I wear golfing boots they would look odd. I thought that a pair of walking gaiters would be a good solution. But I am concerned as to appearance and the requirement for "smart casual clothes" on the golf coursse. Peter

It seems pretty sensible to me. You could also tuck your trouser bottoms into your socks. For a definitive answer I'd ask your golf course.

Mark, Trouser bottoms tucked into socks is a definite no-no in Ireland, so I am suprised to see you suggest it in the UK. JohnT |

Several other members have commented on it being a good idea, may even invest in a pair myself. Dave |

Well I'd contend that it would depend on where you go, though usually you'd be wearing over-trousers so no-one would see anyway. Having said that, even without over-trousers no-one would bat an eyelid at my home course.

I was "forced" into the rough on more than one occassion, and it's very thick and very wet. But I came off the course with dry trouser bottoms and socks. If fact the Captain complimented me on a good idea, and said he's considering it himself. All in all, great. Now all I have to do is play the game well. And that's a sllightly different story. Peter
