Like a lot of old people, Jack Nicklaus wants those young whipper
snappers off his lawn. Except, in Nicklaus’ case, his lawn is the
British Open. At a press conference today, the 68-year-old Nicklaus
questioned whether today’s players have too much money and not enough
desire.

What an ass! That’s typical old-guy talk. According to Jack, things
were better back in his day. Yeah right, when golf courses were
segregated. Nicklaus has made ridiculous comments in the past. Some of
his remarks regarding Tiger Woods when he first came up were
borderline racist. Fortunately this time his comments aren’t hateful.
Just plain stupid and ignorant.

I remember when jack said that, but there wasn't really any furor.
Should have been, but the press let it slide. Then two years later
they crucified the fuzzball for a lot less.

He's paid his dues and some dues of the players that followed him.
Sometimes age is old and sometimes it's wisdom. In Jack's case, it's
the latter. Anyone ignoring his critique of the game and the players
is sadly mistaken.

BOTH Tiger's BLACK and ASIAN parents are smart people. Tiger is not
from the same mold as the thugs of the NFL and NBA.

The Thugs of the NFL and NBA have the athleticism to hit golf shots,
but don't have the "mental fortitude" and intelligence to make it as a
PGA Tour pro.


In his book, Tiger himself states that a person of average
coordination AND INTELLIGENCE can play good golf.

Actually, if you look at the musculatures of the different races, they
do differ. Nothing racist about a statement of fact.

Who coined the term, "White guys can't jump." ? If it was said by a
black guy, does that mean he's racist?

Except of course Nicklaus is exactly right.



Very obviously todays players, with the VERY notable exception of
Woods, are not willing or able to make the commitment or sacrifices
needed to won multiple majors.....why kill yourself? If you are
good enough to have a Davis Love or even Sergio Garcia type of
career.......winning majors is not going to help you buy many more
private planes or yachts.


The fact that a 53 year old man, who has not played a truely
competitive round of golf in years, is leading, this arguably biggest
event in the golfing world, speaks volumes. Woods is out one major,
and do Phil and Ernie and Retief and Sergio step it up? Nope.......


If Greg freaking Norman can do this...why arent these guys, younger,
stronger, and in their primes, stepping up?



And people still claim that somehow Woods has the tougher competition
to what Nicklaus faced.




This is the downfall of the all exempt tour....the last
Americangeneration of golfers that had to qualify and claw their way
into tournaments was Tom Watsons......and the face of the PGA has been
soft ever since...from Kite, to Couples..from Love to
Duval.........players that have reached that pinnacle, and instead of
saying, "Is there more" have decided..'Thats all their is."

However, there are big differences between East Africans and West
Africans. West Africans produce sprinters and East Africans produce
long distance runners. But to the average racist they are all the
same race.
